Do I Need a Fire Risk Assessment?
In England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, those responsible for most types of non- domestic premises have a duty to make an assessment of the risk to people from fire and implement suitable general fire precautions to minimize the risk to those people. This is a legal requirement.
What is a Fire Risk Assessment? (FRA)
A fire risk assessment is an organised and methodical examination of your premises, the activities carried on there and the likelihood that a fire could start and cause harm.
• Identify the hazards
• Identify the people at risk
• Identify the control measures in place
• Identify the escape routes are fit for purpose meeting the (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 as amended)
• Evaluate and identify the actions needed to reduce the risk and be compliant with the fire safety order (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 as amended)
• Be undertaken in accordance with the requirements of PAS79
